Natural Horsemanship
Our foundation, natural horsemanship is a philosophy built on communication, trust, and empathy to foster a partnership between horse and handler, rather than using force or intimidation. It embraces the horse's natural behaviors and instincts, using groundwork and a partnership approach to build a deep bond and improve training outcomes.
We believe in developing a confident, patient, and benevolent leadership role in our relationship with the horse.
Key elements include using tools like a rope halter and lead rope, applying pressure and release, and focusing on rewarding desired behaviors to encourage the horse to want to do the right thing..
What to Expect
Once you are established as a client, you will spend considerable time getting to know the farm and your equine partners. This will include time in the field, learning behaviors and how to interact with them, halter and leading, grooming, building trust, and many other horsemanship skills. These are not only key to a good foundation with equines, they are skills that will develop mobility, dexterity, neuromotor control, upper and lower body strength, and of course the mental and spiritual aspects of being in God’s creation!
Our sessions are reviewed and built with input from an oncology physical therapist.
We plan to offer advancement into riding in spring 2026.
